Brain and Neurosurgery

Since 2010, Near East University Hospital Brain and Nerve Surgery has been serving successfully in all areas of current brain and nerve surgery practice.
In our clinic, the diagnosis of brain and neurosurgical diseases is performed with high technology magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), computed tomography (CT), and PET CT in the earliest possible stages so that medical or surgical interventions can be performed without delay.
Our clinic has adopted a multidisciplinary approach, which is common in the branches such as neurology, neuroradiology, general surgery, anaesthesia and reanimation, internal medicine, paediatrics and orthopaedics. Our clinic also provides inpatient, outpatient and emergency services (24/7). Surgical and microsurgical procedures are successfully performed in our fully equipped operating room.

Brain Haemorrhage: It is a very serious condition caused by hypertension, aneurysm, brain glomerulus and trauma. It is life-threatening and has a high risk of causing disability. Patients with this condition are followed up in the intensive care unit and emergency surgery is performed without delay.

Patients suffering from aneurysm are treated surgically. Patients who are not suitable for surgery can be treated with a special catheter through the groin by endovascular intervention without surgery.

Brain and Spinal Cord Tumours: Surgical treatment is performed for children and adults who develop tumours in the nervous system or neurological disorders caused by cancer. In addition, our patients are evaluated in detail by the departments of neurology, endocrinology, radiation oncology, medical oncology and neuropathology with a coordinated and multidisciplinary approach and the most appropriate treatment is then decided.

Paediatric Neurosurgery: All neurosurgical diseases in newborns, children and adolescents are examined and treated. The diagnosis and treatment of meningocele, myelomeningocele, split cord malformation, diastematomyelia, hydrocephalus (brain water collection), craniosynostosis, Arnold-Chiari malformation, and Dandy-Walker cysts diagnosed before or after delivery are performed using the best team and technologies.

Waist and Neck Hernias: It is related to all spine-related problems (pain, nerve compression, waist and neck hernias, spinal cord compression syndromes, etc.) from neck to waist. The most advanced technological facilities available in our hospital are used for accurate diagnosis and treatment.

Calcification on the spine: Calcification (spondylosis) usually occurs with ageing in the neck, trunk and lumbar spine, which causes numbness in the arms and legs, difficulty in walking and pain in patients. Diagnosis and medical treatment of this disease are made in our clinic and patients with advanced calcification are treated with microcirculation intervention.

Pain Treatment: Lumbar hernias that are unsuitable for surgery in the elderly and whose general health condition is impaired but also do not benefit from drug treatments can be treated with injections for pain treatment. In this treatment, after local anaesthesia is applied to the coccyx and spine region, an injection is performed with special methods.

Trauma - Intensive Care Unit: Patients with severe trauma due to traffic accidents, falls, tumours, brain haemorrhage and patients who require close follow-up after serious brain surgery are treated in the intensive care unit.

Emergency Services
If necessary, examination and treatment services are provided by the neurosurgery specialist 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The patients who undergo their first intervention in the emergency department are admitted to the clinic if necessary. If the patient is in a severe condition, they are admitted to the intensive care unit, which can provide tertiary care, and surgery is performed without delay.

Physical therapy and rehabilitation services are also provided to our patients.
